The Increasingly Real and Present Goals of 4G Wireless Internet

We who live in the 21st century are truly blessed to be living in a day and age where technological advances occur at such a high rate and where our ability to stay connected with each other-to efficiently communicate and share-is so strongly reinforced. At this point, the advances are growing at an exponential rate, and the differences between this year and the past one are seemingly greater than last decade and the one before it. One technological breakthrough that continues to be refined and that has proven to be absolutely revolutionary in keeping people effectively connected to the wider world has been wireless internet access, and thanks to the latest generation of mobile connectivity standards people all across the country and many parts of the world have mind-numbingly fast and reliable wireless connections that are significantly improving quality of life, work performance and social connections.

The latest incarnation of mobile communications standards, referred to as 4G (distinguishing it from the previous generations 1G, 2G and 3G), has been released on the market only in the last year or so, and what a
lofty set of goals and objectives that engineers and designers set for this new technology. Basically, the idea was to overcome all of the hurdles presented by previous generations of wireless web connections, such as low data speeds (especially with respect to upload capabilities), poor interoperability among standards, and a few other basic problems. Despite the fact that many people were skeptical of whether or not designers could make good on the objectives they set for themselves, the last year has vindicated them in a number of aspects and 4G wireless standards are well on their way to becoming a standard for all wireless devices connecting to the web.

The first goal that engineers set for themselves as part of the fourth generation of wireless standards was to vastly improve spectral efficiency, and this was the first area for them to prove their meddle. With the new technology, the information rate able to be passed along a given bandwidth has gone up in a spectacular proportion, meaning that connections will perform much better in a wireless environment with these standards. Hand in hand with this has been the improvement in data rates between fixed as well as moving objects, rising up to nominal values of 1Gbit/s for stationary objects and somewhere near 100Mbit/s for someone moving along. And to provide extra stability to wireless internet connections, developers were sure to implement smooth handoff from one network to another and allow for seamless connectivity and roaming abilities between various different networks.

All of this means that with a 4G internet connection users can access richer media content such as streaming video and music or multimedia presentations on the run without the worry that it will be too heavy for their connection; they can roam across enormous swaths of terrain and not worry about having their connection be dropped; and they can effectively get the very most out of their wireless internet connection instead of just showing it off for no good sake!
